Dr. Alican Erdem

Dr. Alican Erdem is a Railway Systems Engineer and System Integration Engineer based in London. With a BSc in Electrical-Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University, MSc and PhD in Railway Systems Engineering from the University of Birmingham, he specialises in the integration of complex railway systems, including signalling, rolling stock, power, telecommunications, and operational technologies. His professional experience spans major infrastructure projects, railway research, systems engineering, and higher education, with a particular interest in how railways shape the movement of people, ideas, and societies. Alican currently works as a Functional Integration Engineer at High Speed Two (HS2), one of Europe's largest and most ambitious railway programmes. In recognition of his professional potential, he was endorsed by the Royal Academy of Engineering under the UK's Global Talent programme as an engineer of Exceptional Promise.
